Vehicles in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state early analysis suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for information.

A high-ranking political figure stated the incident rendered him speechless and had to be resolved promptly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
